Next one leaving the city life

I have tried to set up the Iridium satellite phone for data transmission but have been encountering problems. This could be broadly due to different things: one could be that email software settings on the laptop are not configured properly, or there might be some kind of loose connection with the cable that connects the satellite phone to the laptop and the other important problem could be just the fact that the signal strength is not good enough and I have been told by people from previous field experiences that sometimes it could take as many as 10 tries to send an email. So let’s just hope that the data transmission works on the field and we would be able to update the main activities like ice core drilling and maybe even some interesting things that might happened on the field! I hope the next update will be sent from Svalbard successfully. -Venkata

Accommodation for the coming five weeks.

The camp in Vestfonna looked like this last year.
